I probably romanticized the Hudson's Bay Blanket into more than it is after reading all the rave reviews. I knew wool blankets were a little scratchy, so that didn't bother me much. But I was expecting it to be a lot warmer than it was. I sleep with the house at about 65 degrees in Winter. I was assuming that this blanket would be warm enough to sleep comfortably. And I am not someone who likes it super warm- quite the contrary. I found that I had to double it to be enough on an average night. There was nothing "wrong" with the blanket at all. It just didn't seem to be as warm as I expected. I think I liked the nostalgic idea better than the reality. I will explore heavy cotton blankets next.

Let me first say that I absolutely love this blanket. I was on a mission to find the perfect 100% wool blanket and practically had a coronary when I saw the prices at other retailers for a KING size. I've had a long love affair with the Hudson Bay blanket since I bought one many, many years ago for a full-size bed and hoped that some day I'd have one for the king sized bed. When I came across this blanket on Hanks site it was just icing on the cake that it was on sale. And free shipping! I'd be foolish NOT to buy it! It arrived within days in beautiful condition. One pet peeve I have with King size is that the sizes of sheets/blankets/bedspreads are sometimes skimpy ... not so with this blanket. There's plenty of blanket here and I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you're in the market for a quality-made blanket, look no further than Hanks. Trust me - I looked everywhere! My new blanket gives me the same joy as the one my mother gave me back in the seventies. That one got ruined by an accident and even thought I still used it, I always wanted to replace it. It was a six point and my wife encouraged me to get an eight point. I am glad I did. It is a wonderful genuine look back into the fur trapping days and it has the same quality as it did then. I ordered the Hudson Bay Blanket from Hanks Clothing at a better price than anywhere else offered. The only problem I encountered was acceptence of my credet card on the East coast as I live on the West coast. When that problem was resolved with one phone call the blanket was at my home in one week ! Couldn't be more pleased with the product or the transaction !

Recently I purchased a Hudson's Bay Point Blanket in King as a wedding gift for my fiancee. He has been wanting one for a while now, but would never make a purchase like this for himself. I thought it would make a great wedding gift because it was something he really wanted and it was something he would have forever. Hanks had it in King for a really great price so I couldn't pass it up. I ordered it a few weeks before our wedding and gave it to him the day before. He was speechless. He loved it and couldn't wait until we returned from our honeymoon to use it. The minute we got home he opened it up and put it on our bed. I must admit I was a little skeptical that this blanket could make that much difference, but it did. Our house was very cold when we got home (we had the heat off while we were away) and the blanket kept us warm all night. I ordered a king size Hudson Bay blanket and throw cover to send as a gift to my relatives in Canada. The prices were very reasonable. The quality is excellent. Hank's Clothing was experienced in sending packages to Canada and very knowledgeable about dealing with Canadian Customs. I am sleeping better since replacing my down comforter with a Hudson Bay Wool Blanket. The down comforter does not breath, and I would wake up in the night hot and sweaty. The HB wool Blanket breathes, is warm, and the wool regulates my heat superbly. I am sleeping more soundly,longer, and not waking up feeling clammy. The wool is very soft to the touch. I bought the HB pillow shams and sleep on the wool side with no itchy feeling I will be replacing all my comforters with wool. The only thing comparable to the quality of the HB blanket is the excellent service I recieved from Hanks Clothing. Thank you.

We bought two Hudson Bay blankets (8-point for our king size bead.) They are large enough to cover the bed with several inches hanging over the sides and end of the bed so we can tuck them in. We are delighted with their quality -- from the vivid colors ( red with black stripe and white with green, yellow, and red stripes, and of course they had the "point" markings and the weight and feel of 100 per cent wool. We live on our ranch in northeast Washington state. Winter temperatures can dip below 0 degrees. These blankets keep us very warm and it is a delight to use them with flannel sheets.
