Fabric
Mackinaw wool, 24 oz. 100% virgin wool

Weight
Approximately 3 lb 4 oz Fitting Sized to fit over long johns, so order your normal pant size.
These bibs fit a lot like our pants, but perhaps not as large as some people expect bibs to fit. Order a size up if you need extra room to layer heavily or for greater freedom of movement.
These bibs do not have tapered legs, because we feel that a straight cut leg is more practical in a bib this heavy, to fit over heavy or bulky cold-weather boots.
Bibs are unfinished in length. (Unfinished inseam is approximately 33 1/2".) We can hem these bibs any length up to a 32 1/2" inseam. Sizes 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48

Care
How do I clean a Mackinaw wool garment?

Professionally dry clean only, with a reliable dry cleaner you can trust. Point out any spots or stains so your dry cleaner can treat them properly.

Do not machine wash, even in cold water, because wool can shrink unevenly or dramatically.

What should I do if my Mackinaw wool garment gets wet?
Allow wet wool garments to dry at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight. Let any mud dry, and then brush off. Always brush with the nap of the fabric, not against it.

How do I properly store a Mackinaw wool garment?
Hang correctly: Use a hanger that fits, preferably a shaped or padded hanger. Set the garment properly on the hanger. Hang pants with the pant legs aligned to keep the creases straight.
Hang your wool clothes where they can breathe; avoid overcrowding. Empty the pockets to avoid strain on pocket seams that could cause misshaping.
To prevent uneven or unnatural color fading, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Even so, being a natural fabric, it is common for wool garments to fade over the years. Some colors naturally fade faster than others; Blue/Black plaid usually fades the fastest.

Filson wool garments have NOT been chemically treated to repel moths. To prevent moth damage, dry clean before storing, to remove the odors that attract moths. Place mothballs, flakes, or crystals where your wool garments are stored. If using moth crystals, do not hang garments in plastic garment bags, as the chemicals in the moth crystals may cause the plastic to melt and damage your clothes. Although the smell of cedar is repellent to moths, cedar balls or chips alone do not guarantee that your wool clothes will be safe from moth damage.

Refresh wool clothes by hanging in a steamy bathroom. The steam helps remove wrinkles. Hang wool garments in a well-ventilated area for a day or two to dissipate the smell of mothballs or crystals.

Common Uses
Hunting, fishing, or working in extremely cold weather, street wear

FAQ
Why are the leather tabs on your suspenders so thick? I can barely fasten them onto the buttons.

We deliberately use thick bridle leather with durability and function in mind. Since the leather will usually relax and stretch with use, we use thick, stiff bridle leather so that the leather does not stretch so much that the button slips out.

What do you mean when you say "100% virgin wool?"
100% virgin wool is "virgin" because it comes straight from the sheep, not trimmings or leftovers recycled from the processing of other wool fabrics.

This allows us to use the longest fibers to weave our fabrics, which is important because longer fibers are inherently stronger than shorter fibers. This makes it unnecessary for us to blend synthetic fibers such as nylon or polyester into our wool to make it stronger.

Thus, we believe our 100% virgin wool is more resilient and long lasting than wool blends, and you get the full benefit of the wool fibers working for you.

How warm is your 24 oz. Mackinaw wool? Do you offer a temperature chart for your Mackinaw fabrics?
We do not offer a temperature chart for our Mackinaw fabrics because their warmth will differ from one person to another, depending on a persons metabolism, and other factors. What we can tell you is that our 24 oz. Mackinaw wool is one of the warmest fabrics that we offer in a garment: This is why we use it to make so many of our garments, hats, caps, and even our Style 902 Highlander Boots. You will see it perform most effectively when worn as part of a layering system that may include long johns, shirts, and a sweater or vest.

Is Mackinaw wool water repellent?
Wool fabrics are naturally water repellent, and more importantly, retain heat even when wet. 100% virgin wool will absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without becoming damp or clammy.

How noisy is wool in the woods?
Wool is very quiet: It doesn`t make noise as you walk through brush or ground cover, which is greatly valued by hunters in particular.

What are your most popular colors in 24 oz. Mackinaw wool?
Our most popular color in 24 oz. Mackinaw wool is Charcoal, followed by Red/Black and Forest Green.
