Hit The Road

Summer vacations are the top rated summer activities people put on their agenda. Whether, it’s far or near car rides can be long and boring, especially for the children. Help pass the time with these road trip games. No paper, no tools,no game boards, just fun with each other.

Among the games the most popular is I Spy. Played by millions. One person looks around and chooses an object that the others have to guess, with their only clue being these words: “I spy with my little eye something that begins with (insert the first letter of the object’s name).” Or the clue can be the object’s color. No cheating and challenging the other person with a fast approaching or passing by object.

Want to test your smarts? Play 20 questions. Look around find an object in the car. Now whomever’s turn it is, gets to ask questions about the object until they can guess it right. What color, size. Does it make sound? Can you eat it? When the object is guessed correctly proceed to the next player.

Unscramble the plates. You see thousands of different plates along the way. Build words or phrases using the letter sequence in the plates. A plate with the letters E, F and T, for example, might become the word “effort” (using those letters to start the word, in the middle and at the end).

Name that tune. Start singing your favorite tune in a certain category. Movies, TV shows, one hit wonders, etc… While one player sings the tune, the other tries to guess the tune. Try not to laugh at this one! Your family might be really bad singers.

Try the picnic gameA memory builder for all ages. One player says, “I went to a picnic Saturday and I brought…” then says a picnic favorite that begins with the letter A, like apples. The next player repeats the opening phrase, and after “…I brought” they repeat the A item then add one that begins with B: “I brought an apple and some bananas.” The third player repeats the opener, the A and the B portions, and then adds something that begins with C.

With so many fun car ride games, you’ll be to your destination faster then you know it. Vacations are for family fun, might as well make the car rides fun too. Go explore the world, Make memories.
